Our nature

We work on two most atractive river and wetland sites in Croatia. Those are the Drava river and the area of the river Neretva valley and delta, with a short trip on river Cetina, too. We also work on the Adriatic sea, around the middle and south Dalmatian islands and coast.

Drava is one of the best preserved and natural European rivers, especially along its course in Croatia. It is a typical lowlands river, with all the characteristics, such as meanders and continual course changing, great amount of the river sediment, high soil banks, pebble and sand shelves, flooding forests and meadows, numerous small backwaters and marshes etc. Biotopes like this are very rare in Europe, because those are the most fertile and accessible areas, which were settled and modified long ago. River beds were regulated and transformed into channels, marshes drained and forests cut down or lost because of changes in water regimes.

The Neretva delta – the only Croatian delta – is the area of exceptional natural values and, despite the great human influence, still partially very well preserved. River and sea influences meet each other in this area and they make the whole spectar of wetland habitats, originated by mixing of fresh and salt water. The richness of plant and animal species, primarily birds, and exceptional beauty of landscapes attract people more and more in this typical Mediterranean wetland, especially today, when such biotopes became very rare.

Croatian Adriatic coast and islands , more than thousand of them, are almost unique all over the world. Numerous coves, attractive sea caves, sea lakes, channels and passages are just created for easy paddling and cruising from islet to islet, for basking in the sun and swimming on hidden small beaches, for camping in the pine forests and for loafing in the shade and listening to the deafening cicada song. The whole history of the Adriatic coast and islands, and it was extremely rich and interesting , is exposed to your view, while you can still keep in sight your kayaks on the beach.
